Meredith STEM College

Meredith STEM College is an opportunity for rising 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade women to develop their interest in science.

If you are selected for the program you will have the opportunity to participate in six virtual weekend workshops as well as a two-week residential, simulated biomedical summer experience on Meredith’s campus. You’ll also earn three college credit hours.

What You’ll Do

Workshops begin in Fall 2024 and are held each month throughout the spring, leading up to the summer learning experience in Summer 2025. The summer program will be offered at two different times – two weeks at the end of June and two weeks in July. When applying, you will have the opportunity to indicate which session works best for you.

Weekend Workshops

Explore potential bioscience careers through six virtual workshops. Led by industry experts, the workshops will help you connect with peers, faculty, and research scientists who share your interest in STEM. And, you’ll have access to the project’s web portal, linking you with other STEM programs, potential biomedical internship opportunities, and information on STEM-related careers.

Learn more about the workshops.

Residential Summer Learning Experience

Immerse yourself in an in-depth, hands-on project that focuses on two phases of the FDA drug development process and includes guest lectures and interactive discussions with leading drug development and clinical research scientists. You’ll also explore case studies that introduce issues related to health disparities and the ethics of using human participants in research.

The Summer Learning Experience includes

  • Housing in one of Meredith’s spacious residence halls
  • Three meals and two snacks daily in Meredith’s dining hall
  • A minimum of two field trips and eight evening social activities
  • Capstone event presentations – students present posters to their families, faculty, and invited guests

Professional Development Training

Throughout the experience, you’ll gain skills that will help you in college and beyond including time and project management, cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural communication and teamwork, and professional communication needed for successful STEM careers.
