At Meredith College, you can earn your Post-Baccalaureate Licensure in the Arts with a concentration in one of the following areas:

This licensure option is open to both women and men graduates with an appropriate undergraduate degree or approved through a formal review by the designated departments.

Offering an A-Level license for K-12 Art, Dance, or Theatre, as well as Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) 6-12, this program is ideal for residency teachers already teaching these subjects. However, it could also benefit someone interested in obtaining their initial license before teaching.

By focusing on a specific area of instruction, Meredith students gain the ability to understand and teach content in their chosen specialty, use technology effectively in the classroom, and assess each student’s progress. Students are prepared to meet the needs of diverse student populations. They are proficient in today’s best practices for content delivery in the classroom.

Strong Reputation

As one of the strongest programs in the region, Meredith has a reputation for educating confident and capable teachers. That’s why so many schools seek out Meredith-trained teachers – and why our students make a lasting impact in the classroom.

Convenient Scheduling

Post-Baccalaureate Licensure in the Arts courses are scheduled in the evening to accommodate working professionals’ schedules. Two options are available for students to complete their degrees at their own pace for added convenience. The Fast Track takes 16 months to complete, and the Flex Plan is developed with advising from the program coordinator.

Unparalleled Support

Students benefit from the personalized nature of our program – the kind of individual attention not offered by larger institutions or online programs. Meredith’s program is small, meaning students build lasting relationships with each other and expert faculty. You will continue to receive support through these relationships after graduation, with resources being offered for beginning and more experienced teachers.

Culminating Experiences

During the last semester of study, students complete a semester-long practicum or internship in a public school. Students also produce a professional reflections portfolio. Before applying for licensure, students must have earned the minimum score on required state licensure tests.

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available for Meredith’s Post-Baccalaureate Licensure in the Arts students. Options include scholarships, grants, and loans.
