Next Steps for Incoming Students

Congratulations to everyone who has officially chosen to attend Meredith! We are so excited to welcome you into our community.

If you’re planning to attend Meredith but have not yet submitted your deposit, you still can. Given the extraordinary circumstances related to the FAFSA, Meredith will continue to accept deposits past our May 15 deadline. Please contact your admissions counselor for more information.

Before you join us in the fall semester, there are a few steps you must take during the summer. In today’s blog, we review these steps to ensure a successful transition to college.

Attend StartStrong

StartStrong will help you prepare for the fall term, connect with your new community, and make a successful transition to college life at Meredith. At StartStrong you’ll

• Meet with an enrollment counselor to talk about your fall course schedule
• Connect with many of Meredith’s student services including tech services, study abroad, disability services, and more
• Get your student ID (also known as your CAM card)
• Meet student advisors who will guide you throughout your first year
• Meet and connect with other incoming students in your class

Attendance is required of all new first-year students (except for students living abroad).

Consider Attending Summer Symposium

The Summer Symposium is an optional program for incoming students. This two-day experience offers community-building activities and speaker-led sessions centered around topics of culture, identity, advocacy, and social justice to incoming historically underrepresented students who are committed to creating and maintaining culturally inclusive communities.

Submit Your Health Forms

Make sure to finalize and submit your health forms and insurance information. Submit all health forms, including your immunization records, in your Student Health Portal.

Every student is required to have health insurance. You can either submit a waiver if you are already covered under an insurance plan or you can purchase the BlueCross BlueShield policy available through the College. Indicate your insurance decision in the insurance portal, which opens in June.

Completing this information is essential for your health and the health of our community. Please complete these forms before you attend StartStrong.

Submit Your Housing Request

Living on campus is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build strong bonds and lasting friendships within the community. Submit your Housing Request no later than June 1 and you’ll receive your housing assignment in early July.

All new students under the age of 21 are required to live on campus for their first two years at Meredith unless commuting from their parents’ home. To request to commute while living in the home of parents or an approved guardian, submit the First Year Student Off-Campus Housing Request or Transfer Student Housing Request.

Submit a Voluntary Disability Disclosure

Meredith College values the diversity of its community and promotes inclusivity for all students. We are committed to creating an accessible community and providing reasonable accommodations to qualified students while respecting their right to confidentiality and choosing whether or not to disclose a disability and accommodation needs.

New students who wish to submit a voluntary disability disclosure and request accommodation must do so on the Meredith College Student Wellness Portal. Should you have questions, please email disabilityservices@meredith.edu.

Review the Enrollment Handbook

Learn more about advising, registration, campus services, and more in the 2024 Fall Enrollment Handbook. Take note of any deadlines listed in the handbook to be sure you submit all the required documents.

Complete Your Academic Records

Upon completing your senior year, request that your official transcript, AP, IB, dual credit, and/or college transcript be sent to the Office of Admissions.

Attend New Student Orientation

Mark your calendar for New Student Orientation on August 17-20. Orientation is the perfect opportunity to begin immersing yourself in campus, connect with classmates, faculty, and staff, explore campus resources, and have fun.

Submit Your FAFSA

If you have not already, we encourage you to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It is the best way to maximize your funding options for college.
