The Department of Religious and Ethical Studies offers the following prestigious lectureships.  Speakers in recent years have included:  Bart Ehrman (scheduled for 2011), Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza, Rosemary Radford Ruether, and a sand-painting exhibition by Tibetan monks.

Mary Frances Preston Lecture in Biblical Studies
The lectureship's goal is to bring to campus prominent speakers in biblical interpretation, with the goal of helping students, faculty, and staff discuss the intersection of faith and scholarship. The Mary Frances Preston Lecture in Biblical Studies was made possible by funding initiated by Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Barham, Jr. in honor of Mary Frances Johnson Preston. Mrs. Preston's most significant publication was her book, Christian Leadership . It has been used as a textbook at various colleges, including Meredith College. Her interest in Meredith College began in the 1940s when her family moved to Raleigh. This bond of interest with the College and with the Christian ideas the College holds continued until her death.

Mercer-Kesler Lecture
This lecture series in sponsored by the Mercer-Kesler fund, established by Annie Mercer Kesler and Carolyn Morton Mercer, '22, to honor Isaac Morton Mercer, their father, who taught at Meredith College and John M. Kesler, Mrs. Kesler's husband, who served on the Meredith College Board of Trustees. Scholars in the areas of visual arts, architecture and religion are invited to speak on their fields.

Mary Stowe Gullick Lecture
The Mary Stowe Gullick Lecture was established by Jonathan Gullick to express a commitment to Christian higher education, to perpetuate the memory of his mother, and to enhance the Christian influence on the Meredith campus. The lectures address ethical religious concerns from many facets of society.
