Journals from Santiago de Compostela, Spain
Eight Meredith students will study in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, this summer. Foreign Languages and Literatures faculty member Jonathan Wade is the program leader for this group. The students are in Spain for four weeks.
Santiago is a small city in the northwest part of Spain. It was the final destination of the medieval Pilgrims' Way (Camino de Santiago). As a medieval center of cultural, artistic, and commercial exchange, Santiago has preserved for centuries its rich legacy in its churches and architecture, in its streets and squares and even in its lifestyle.
The program features intensive language courses held at the University of Santiago. All students in the Meredith program will stay with local families near the university in order to learn more about Spanish culture.
