Desktop and Computer Lab Support

The Desktop Support Specialists provide 2nd level hardware and software (OS) support in the field for faculty and staff. The Desktop Support Specialists second responsibilty is to maintain the various computer labs that are located throughout the campus.

Staff, faculty, and students should contact the Help Desk at 760-2323 for any issues that relate to desktops, laptops, or computer labs.

Open/Common Computer Labs are maintained by the Desktop Support Staff for student use. A CAM card is required for access into the labs. The Computer Llabs, at specified times, may be reserved for class use. Schedules for class reservations will be posted on the lab doors. The LINC lab will never be scheduled for classes after 5 pm or on the weekend.

Please Note: During summer the labs may close earlier due to a lack of activity.

Department-Curriculum Computer Labs are maintained by the Desktop Support Staff for student use. The Department Computer Labs can be used by all students who are participating in a particular program or function that is associated with the department hosting the lab. Each lab computer comes with a standard load of software. In additition, departmental computer labs will contain specific software that fits the programs requirements. Below is a list Department Computer Labs located on the campus of Meredith College.
Counseling Center Lab (6 computers) with software and hardware to support special needs students.
Learning Center Lab (8 computers) to support college tutorial services.
Technology Training Lab (11 computers) to support faculty and staff technology training needs.
Graphics Lab (15 Mac computers) and Digital Art Lab (6 Mac computers) to support Art Department instructional needs.
CAD Lab (17 computers) to support instructional needs of Interior Design and Fashion Merchandising students
Department of Biological Sciences Facilities/Lab - Each full-time faculty member in the sciences has access to an individual research lab dedicated specifically to ongoing student-faculty research projects.
Library Index Lab (9 computers) to support library research and student general computing needs.
Music Lab (10 computers) to support Music Department instructional needs.
Sociology Lab (5 computers) to support instructional needs for the Sociology and Social Work Department.
BIT Lab supports instructional needs of the Computer Science/Computer information systems curriculum. (not supported by Technology Services)
Music Library - A listening room providing students with the equipment to listen to recordings in the library collection.
Hatcher Language Lab (24 computers) The Hatcher Language Learning Center is a public computing facility with specialized equipment to facilitate language acquisition.

Human Performance Lab The Human Performance Laboratory (HPL) at Meredith College is dedicated to providing athletes and fitness enthusiasts with unbiased scientific testing by certified and knowledgeable staff.
