How to be Automatically Notified When New Messages arrive
1. Within Microsoft Outlook 2003, Select Tools, then Options
2. Click the E-mail Options… button, then click Advanced E-mail Options… button
3. If you want an alert to show on your desktop when a new message arrives,
then...
a. Check the Display a New Mail Desktop Alert (default Inbox only)
checkbox
b. To modify how long this alert lasts and its transparency, click the Desktop Alert Settings button, change the options you want modified, then click OK when done.

4. If you want a sound to play when a new message arrives, then...
a. Check the Play a sound checkbox.
5. If you want the mouse cursor to change shape when a new message arrives, then…
a. Check the Briefly change the mouse cursor checkbox.
Note: Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 will not play a sound, change the mouse
cursor, or display a New Mail Desktop Alert when you are running a Microsoft
Office PowerPoint 2003 slide show on this computer.
