SWEP NC Triangle July Social Event
Please join the Society of Women Environmental Professionals - NC Triangle Chapter for a networking social event featuring a special presentation, “Improving Public Health Through Local Sustainable Food Systems” by Dr. Alice Ammerman.
Dr. Ammerman is a professor in the Department of Nutrition, Gillings School of Global Public Health at UNC, and is the Director for the CDC-funded Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. Her research focuses on the design and testing of innovative clinical and community-based nutrition and physical activity intervention approaches for chronic disease risk reduction in low income and minority populations. Dr. Ammerman has strong research, practice, and policy collaborations across the state addressing childhood obesity. In an effort to improve access to healthy food for the underserved, much of her research addresses local food systems and social entrepreneurship as sustainable approaches to addressing significant public health challenges.

Located 1/2 mile north of the I-40 and Fayetteville Road interchange (Exit 276) (just south of Woodcroft Parkway).
REGISTRATION: In light of the presentation, please bring in non-perishable food items for donation to the local food pantry. Also, please RSVP by July 23rd to swepnctriangle@gmail.com.
