Second Week RecycleMania Prize Winners
Congratulations to Falonn Rebeka Bolela, a resident of Heilman Residence Hall, and Diana Davis in Joyner Hall for their participation in campus recycling. Rebeka and Diana won grocery totes from Whole Food’s “A Better Bag” series on Friday, February 20, 2009.
Thank you to student volunteers Jessica Prescott and Charis Hill for their help with Friday’s recycling and waste assessment. Volunteers polled 13 Heilman and Barefoot residents and 10 staff and faculty that were present and willing to participate. 4 students and 2 faculty and staff demonstrated correct recycling and were entered into the drawing for the prize. Similar assessments will continue on campus. To volunteer to help, contact Volunteer Services at tabithau@meredith.edu.
Recyclemania is a national competition. In Spring 2009, Meredith is competing against Peace College to see who can recycle the most per person on campus. See the chart in the Cate Center lobby for latest results. In January, Meredith recycled 825 pounds of plastic, 68 pounds of aluminum, 200 pounds of glass and 1250 pounds of paper. Thank you to Whole Foods for providing RecycleMania prizes.
