Sustainability at Meredith College

Recycling bins for residence halls are here!

RDs and RAs have bins available for distribution. There are 500 bins in total, remaining bins will be available for faculty and staff offices.

Meredith currently accepts paper, aluminum and plastic in the large blue recycling receptacles outside each building. Like trash, it is the resident’s responsibility to sort and empty your recycling bin. In conjunction with Meredith’s Sustaining Our Environment Theme, we are working to improve the recycling system on campus. We will keep you updated as changes are made.

Other recyclable items:
Cardboard: place BESIDE trash dumpsters, housekeeping staff will sort appropriately.
Toner cartridges: drop in boxes or parlors or take or send by intra-campus mail to the Copy Center for recycling.
Glass: Centralized collection points available on the south side of the library and behind Cate Center.
Batteries: Take large quantities to the Facilities Services Stockroom (Room 114) or send a few by campus mail.
The batteries will be included in the campus-wide hazardous waste program (ie, emergency light batteries, etc.).
Reusable’s (not trash or recycling): Suggestions-- Make a “free box” on your hall; Donate to Goodwill (220 Kilmayne Dr, Cary); Explore www.freecycle.org.
