Taking Foreign Language classes in the summer allows you to fulfill your general education requirements and give your target language the attention and focus it deserves. You can choose from three courses in Spanish, a language growing in use within the United States.

SPA 101 Elementary Spanish I (3 credits)

In this introduction to modern Spanish, classes are conducted mostly in Spanish with English being used only for orientation purposes. Students will be introduced to the language through class conversation, grammar exercises, and vocabulary exercises. In addition to class discussion and homework, students will use online and video resources.

SPA 102 Elementary Spanish II (3 credits)

In this course, students will review and build on the skills learned in Spanish 101. Spanish is spoken in class, with English only being used for orientation. Students not only work towards learning the language, but learning about Hispanic cultures. This class will also make use of online resources to help students grasp the language.

SPA 205 Intermediate Spanish I (3 credits)

Spanish 205 provides an opportunity for students to practice what they’ve learned in previous classes. Emphasis is placed on conversation while some new grammar is introduced. This class makes use of audio and video resources to help students improve their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
