Summer Reading 2009
Meredith College’s Summer Reading Program selection for 2009 is “Unbowed,” a memoir by Nobel laureate Wangari Maathai, who has been a trailblazer on behalf of women and the environment.
The Summer Reading Program was created to further enhance the academic climate on campus. Each year, the Summer Reading Program book is chosen to fit Meredith’s annual campus-wide theme. Maathai’s work and her life story embody Meredith’s 2009-10 campus theme "Catalysts for Change."
Nobel laureate Maathai will also deliver the 2009 Lillian Parker Wallace Lecture on October 1, 2009 at 7 p.m. in the McIver Amphitheater.
