Student Insurance
Meredith College continues to provide accident insurance underwritten by United Healthcare Insurance Company for all full-time undergraduate (at least 12 hours) and graduate (at least 6 hours) students. Full-time Meredith students will receive an accident only insurance card in early Fall.
Meredith is also pleased to offer an optional upgraded student injury and sickness insurance plan* to all
Meredith students obtaining degrees or certifications. This policy is offered by United Healthcare
Student Resources and underwritten by United Healthcare Insurance Company. Meredith is offering this
policy on a voluntary basis for the annual cost of $845 per student. (See brochure for payment options.) The policy year is from August 1,
2009 – July 31, 2010. United Healthcare mails brochures to all eligible students in the Summer.

Policy highlights for the optional injury and sickness plan include:
• United Healthcare has a large network of providers in the Triangle area.
• $50 deductible per insured person per policy year for Preferred Providers
• $100 deductible per insured person per policy year for out-of-network providers
• If prescriptions are filled at a UnitedHealthcare Network Pharmacy (UHPS) the following copays
and limits apply:
o $15 copay per prescription for Tier 1 for 31 day supply
o $25 copay per prescription for Tier 2 for 31 day supply
o $750 maximum per policy year
• Psychotherapy is paid at $75/day with a maximum of 20 visits per policy year
• Coverage effective from August 1, 2009 - July 31, 2010
• Coverage available for dependents
*This optional plan has a $50,000 maximum benefit for each injury or sickness and therefore is not a
major medical policy. For a full description of coverage including costs, benefits, and exclusions, any
