Meet our staff

Chrissie Bumgardner, B.A., M.Ed.
Director, First Year Experience

Chrissie Bumgardner has worked at Meredith since 1994 and with the First Year Experience program since 1995. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Appalachian State University in 1988 and a master’s degree in counselor education from UNC-Greensboro in 1991. Before coming to Meredith, Bumgardner worked at East Carolina University as coordinator of resident education and at Appalachian State University as program coordinator for the Upward Bound program. She is a member of the American College Personnel Association and the North Carolina College Personnel Association. She regularly attends the National Conference for First Year Experience and Students in Transition.

Bumgardner coordinates the First Year Experience course, the student advisor program, the Summer Reading Program and the freshman Fire and Water dinner.

Candice Fisher Webb, B.A., M.Ed.

Candice Fisher Webb graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and political science. She earned a Master of Education in higher education administration from NC State in 2006 and is completing the final stages of a doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration from NC State. Webb expects to receive her Ed.D. in the December of 2010.

Webb has worked for FYE since May 2006. Before that, she worked in the department of multicultural student affairs at NC State for two years. She has also worked as a placement counselor in the School of Business at North Carolina Central University.

Webb is responsible for new student orientation, the freshmen leadership retreat, Discovery and serves as the administrative advisor for Alpha Lambda Delta, the freshmen honors society.
