How to Contact Us
If you would like to schedule an appointment or are seeking information, contact our Administrative Assistant, Donna Pilkington by calling 760-8427. You can also stop by and talk to Donna. You can find her in office, Room 202 Carroll between 9:00 and noon and from noon to 1:00. Otherwise, you can find Donna at the Health Center’s nurse’s station on first Carroll between 8:00 and 9:00 and between 2:00 and 5:00.
If you are a faculty/staff needing to consult with our office about a student please feel free to use our consultation times Mondays and Fridays at 10:00. In addition we offer our daily 1:00 crisis hour for students as well. Faculty/staff are welcome to call during the 1:00 hour, however a student in crisis will take priority. Please be aware that because of confidentiality we are unable to disclose information about a student without the student’s written consent. If you would like to speak with us specifically about a student we encourage you to have them sign an authorization form.

Beth Meier, MS, LPA Beth Meier has been at Meredith since August of 1993 and has been the Director since May 1995. She is a Licensed Psychological Associate. Beth attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale where she earned a B.A. in psychology and an M.A. in counseling psychology. She completed a doctoral internship at Virginia Commonwealth University. As a part of her graduate work, Meier worked for the Department of Child Family Service counseling incest survivors and their families. She also worked for Charter Northridge Hospital, a psychiatric hospital for two years as a caseworker. Her counseling interests include depression, relationship difficulties and abuse issues. She has received training in Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), crisis intervention, coaching, and group counseling. She approaches counseling from an interpersonal, cognitive behavorial and psychodynamic theoretical background. |
Lynne Kohn, MSW, LCSW Lynne Kohn joined the Counseling Center staff in 1999 and works during the academic year. She has a master’s degree in Social Work from Catholic University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has a background as a nurse and a teacher. As a therapist, she has worked in community mental health, private practice, and college counseling (Elon and Meredith), and she especially enjoys the challenge of motivating women to be who they are and all they can be. She coordinates the program in the Counseling Center in which graduate student interns from other universities learn to become counselors. |

Jill Triana, MS, LPC, CRC Jill Triana joined the Counseling Center staff in July 2004. She has been serving as Coordinator of Disability Services since January 2006 after serviing for 2 1/2 years as a Disability Counselor. Prior to that she served as a part-time Disability Counselor throughout the 2002-2003 academic year and as a Graduate Intern in the spring of 2002. Jill completed her B.A. in psychology from Sweet Briar College (VA) and earned her M.S. in rehabilitation psychology & counseling from UNC-Chapel Hill. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. Jill has previous experience working with college students with LD/ADHD, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, substance abuse treatment, and children and adults with Autism. Her professional interests include working with young women with ADHD, adjustment to life transitions, women's issue's, self-advocacy, coaching, relaxation techniques and mood disorders. |

Assistant Director, Coordinator of Outreach Jennifer Walker joined the Meredith Counseling Center Staff in the spring of 2009 and works during the academic year. Jennifer earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Furman University after attending her first two years at Meredith College. In 1995, Jennifer received an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked with young adults in various private and community based settings in Raleigh. Jennifer enjoys supporting young women as they explore relationships, develop communication, anger management and coping skills, build skills to manage mood disorders and manage transitions of many kinds. |
Henriette Williams-Alexander, MSW, LCSW Henriette Williams-Alexander joined the Counseling Center staff as a Disability Counselor in August 2007. Prior to that, she served as a part-time Disability Counselor from January 2007 through July 2007 and a Graduate Intern during the 2005-2006 academic year. She completed her B.A. in sociology from the University of Virginia and earned her Masters in social work from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Previously, Williams-Alexander worked as an outpatient therapist for at-risk youth at Caring Family Network, a private nonprofit organization. She has experience in working with inner city youth, foster care, and redirection schools. Her professional interests include family of origin issues, relationship building, spirituality, transition difficulties andstudent atheletes. |

Disability Counselor Candice Creasman began working at Meredith in August of 2009. She received her Bachelors in Psychology and Masters of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling and Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Candice worked with young adults with psychotic disorders on internship and completed a post-graduate interdisciplinary fellowship in psychiatric rehabilitation at the Durham Veteran’s Administration Medical Center. She has worked with individuals with learning and developmental disabilities, substance abuse, severe mental illness, chronic pain, and HIV/AIDS. Her professional interests include adjustment to chronic medical conditions, mood and personality disorders, and family systems dynamics. She primarily utilizes psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness-based therapeutic approaches. |

Administrative Assistant Donna M. Pilkington joined the Counseling Center as the part-time Office Manager in June of 2009. She is a Meredith College alumna, having earning a B.S. in Business Administration in 1986 as an adult student. Since February of 2001, Donna served as the Program Assistant for the 23+ Program and most recently as an administrative assistant for Academic and Career Planning. |

Graduate Intern Liza is a second-year student at the UNC School of Social Work concentrating in the area of adult mental health. She has an interest in working with both individuals and couples. She also has strong interests social welfare policy. She enjoys running, college sports and candy. She also has a BA in History from UNC. |

Graduate Intern Nicole is a 1993 graduate of Meredith College, having earned her Bachelor's degree in psychology. She is very excited to be back at Meredith! She began working on her Master's degree in Professional Counseling in the fall of 2007 at Liberty University. Her professional interests include group therapy, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, spiritual issues & crisis management. Nicole is married has two daughters, ages 12 and 5. |
