LeaderShape® Visions 2001

Emily Stepp- To spark and maintain interest in foreign relations by bringing awareness to the United States of foreign countries’ struggles that do ultimately affect us such as drugs/violence/terrorism. In turn, these improved foreign relations will promote a sense of wholeness and inspire us to forcefully and effectively battle these problems together.

Aundrea Hildreth- To bring comfort and joy to the elderly by providing pets if they are single, lost a spouse, or dealing with an illness of a spouse or themselves. This is to motivate them and give them unconditional love when they feel their lowest or loneliness.

Abbie Sirrine- To enable underprivileged and unfortunate children to have a chance to see the natural wonders of the world. They need the chance to experience life and break out of the boundaries and expand their “universe.”

Morgan Bradshaw- To celebrate the joy of reading by giving young children in America the power of knowledge. By promoting literacy, self-confidence, and an awareness of their capacity to achieve will be instilled in young children.

Ashley Dews- To increase the desire of and opportunity to attend an institution of higher learning by establishing a state or national fund for ALL people who want to further their education.

Emily Byrd- To create a safe learning environment for elementary school children showing them unconditional love through teaching and values and self-worth to better society and build confidence.

Amanda Warren- To unite the Meredith community for one cause annually, allowing Meredith’s emphasis on service to be a model for other college campuses.

Jennifer Howard- My vision is that all people of North Carolina would realize the impact they have on the environment, not take more than they need from the environment, and would set an example for all people to follow. All people of North Carolina will maintain the environment in a more natural state through legislation and education.

Paulina Brown- For all students in middle school and high school regardless of their religion, gender, economic class, and race to become leaders, set higher standards for themselves, and realize their potential, and emphasize equality despite background.

Megan McLane- To contact companies and corporations to receive donations and contributions for hunger and homeless organizations. Also, make youth aware of problems facing homeless children and to create personal interactions between these youth and children.

Whitney Crowder- To try and get the women of Meredith College more involved on and off the campus. To try and interact with other area colleges and universities.

Meredith Kohari- To increase awareness, knowledge, and the choice of female circumcision and mutilation.

Courtney Deal- For all individuals with developmental disabilities to be able to live in a nurturing environment.

Tiffany McKinnon- To make ACA a more inclusive club by reaching out to the community and pulling in new members. With the new member to have a greater impact on the awareness of culture at Meredith. This will lead to a more diverse community in the minds of the students and in the number of people.

Cara Watson- For more opportunity to be given to children from lower income families in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Allison Shivar- For Africa to have basic health care facilities, increased medical personnel, and ultimately provide AIDS treatment to stop the epidemic of “The Dying Continent.”

Krystal Twiford- To spark interest, awareness, and subsequently participation in student government at Meredith.

Tara Fulcher- To improve childcare for children at risk due to poverty.

Jennifer Wilson- For all children to have access to high quality childcare programs that will give them a real chance to be truly successful in life.

Taylor Macy- To begin Christian based ministry for middle school students. This ministry will offer community involvement, leadership and mission opportunities, as well as group and one-on-one support.

Amanda Knox- To create an awareness of local, national, and international political issues so that our society will be one of responsible, active, and effective citizens.

Amanda Austin- To build an awareness of the need to improve children’s everyday environment in order to promote more supportive families, quality day cares, and a more literacy rich community for all children especially those raised in low income families and those with disabilities.

Alison Suber- To get all organizations at Meredith College to work together, so that they are interdependent. To form a community feeling, to get the whole Meredith College family to work together.

Amanda Stepp- For all children to have equal resources, opportunities, and support available to them. My hope is that racial, ethnic, and class barriers between children will be eliminated. I want children to have someone to turn to when they need help coping with and understanding their feelings, feelings dealing with loss of a parent or loved one, divorce, abuse, neglect, discrimination, ect., or if they just want someone to talk to.

Beth Jarvis-  For Meredith College to award academic credit to students who participate in extra-curricular activities.

Veronica Wilson- For there to be state of the art facilities to house stray, abandoned, and abused animals, complete with veterinary clinics, classrooms for education, and hands-on training open to all animals.

Mary Caudle- For colleges and universities, as a whole, to contribute to the improvement of their outside community through dedicated service.

Alison Crawford- to establish worldwide equality in regard to gender and for young women and men to be able to dream big and realize them to their fullest potential.

Diane Hall- A non-profit organization to provide financial aid for those who become disabled or diagnosed with a disease during transitional periods.

Caroline Mercer- For all developmentally disabled children to have adequate funding based on their needs.

Valerie Hoy- To have all freshmen at Meredith to feel like they matter in the Meredith Community.

Jacqulyn Helms- to create a safe haven for children of all races and backgrounds with medical conditions. This would encompass many resources to facilitate the children’s needs.

Millicent Lambert- for Meredith students to become educated about sexual assault therefor becoming advocates for all women in their community.

Anne Stewart- for the campus-wide fundraiser “Wish upon a Star” for the Make-A-Wish Foundation to become an annual event and a success every year with the communities of Meredith and Raleigh being joined together for the kids’ wishes.

Lora Tillman- For young adults to be motivated to live noble lives and the lives they desire.

Gina Manieri- To form a group of Meredith women to teach, mentor, and advise middle school girls about academics, health issues, and their surroundings promoting self-confidence, competence, and respect that they grow into promising young women.

Christina Witherspoon- for physically and/or learning disabled children in North Carolina to be given the same opportunities to attend college as other children are given. This can be accomplished through tutoring programs, more accessible facilities, and the breaking down of stereotypes.

Elaina Cossin- To develop and provide education and a network of resources for parents of all school age children in order to facilitate better parenting skills.

Kelly Rhodes- To establish a new seminary or divinity school in North Carolina solely for women.

Sara Thornton- for all educators to learn to create a positive, trusting, inclusive, and caring classroom where all students feels as though they matter.

Su-Anne Ward- to work with the education committee of the state legislature to establish a mentoring program for elementary students with disabilities to meet each student’s individual needs in a positive environment.

Erica Moorfield- For communities to provide organizations for divorced and widowed mothers that will enable them to become empowered in their new and changing life.

Angel Fumagalli- To achieve all my potential in all areas. School, work, family, friends, community, nature, world. Especially help people of all ages, races, genders that have their basic needs unfulfilled. The help is with monetary donations will go to responsible, mom-profit organizations that are helping people with their needs. A web page will be posted with history, accomplishments, and pictures of the project.

Madelene McFarland- for children to learn the value of life, respect, charity, education, and Christ through experience.

Lisa Aldridge- For people to have an opportunity to voice their insecurities regarding post graduation depression and loss from college community.

Leanna Derenge- To have a strong public education system in America, one in which all children and young adults are given a plethora of diverse opportunities that will enable them to reach their potentials and exceed the expectations of all. I envision a comfortable environment where both students and teachers can realistically and honestly confront controversial issues while remaining respectful of other individuals and confront controversial issues while remaining respectful of other individuals and other groups of people.
