Epilogue: Vision 2010 Assessment Plan
From the outset, the intention has been that the Vision 2010 Plan will be carefully monitored and evaluated. The following strategies will be employed in this effort:
- Each year, the President and Senior Management Team will evaluate progress on all goals and objectives in the plan and use the findings to establish goals for the College for the up-coming year. A report will be made to the Meredith community about the outcomes.
- Each year, the President and Senior Management Team, with approval by the Board of Trustees, will establish priorities that help drive the budgeting process of the College. The President will provide a written / visual report to the Board of Trustees annually concerning progress made towards reaching those priorities. This information will also be shared with the Meredith community.
- In 2009, a comprehensive report reflecting the status of the plan will be written and shared with the Board of Trustees and the Meredith community. This report will also be included in information provided to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) as part of Meredith's re-affirmation process.
Every intention has been made to include measurable goals wherever possible throughout the plan. All goals and objectives with measurable outcomes will be assessed for the extent to which they have been met. In some cases information may be qualitative, but attempts will be made to compile that information into reports that reflect a good understanding of progress made in accomplishing the goal. In addition to collecting and reporting data that is or becomes available to document how goals have been met, it is anticipated that such methods as benchmarking, focus groups, surveys, and baseline indicators / tracking of improvements may be used to help assess the plan. People throughout the campus will be involved in providing information that will help in the assessment of the Vision 2010 Plan. The President and Senior Management Team, with assistance from the Research, Planning and Assessment Office, will have primary responsibility for ensuring that a full assessment is conducted.
While the Vision 2010 Plan is underway, shaping much of what happens in the coming years, the College will also be preparing for its review in 2010 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The steps taken to develop and implement the Vision 2010 Plan will have established a firm foundation for the comprehensive evaluation of Meredith's organization, programs, operations and services that will be required as part of the compliance audit. Of significant importance is the fact that the Board of Trustees and the College have carefully re-examined the mission of the College and have laid out a vision and a plan that will ensure continuous improvement. Also, from the Vision 2010 Plan it is anticipated that ideas will emerge that become Meredith's Quality Enhancement Plan, or QEP, another important ingredient that will also be required for re-accreditation.
