Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
Meredith College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate and masters degrees. Contact the Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097 or call (404) 679-4500 for questions about the accreditation of Meredith College.
The Commission should be contacted only if there is evidence that appears to support an institution’s significant non-compliance with a requirement or standard.
American Dietetic Association (ADA)
Meredith College has American Dietetic Association programs at the undergraduate and post-baccalaureate levels. In 2008, the Didactic Program in Dietetics was granted continued accreditation by the Commission on Dietetic Education (CADE) through 2011. The next program report will be filed in Summer 2010, with a site visit expected in 2011.

Meredith also offers a post-baccalaureate Dietetic Internship Certificate Program, accredited by CADE. The next site visit for this program is also anticipated in 2011.

Council for Interior Design Accreditation
The College’s baccalaureate interior design program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). A reaffirmation site visit was held in 2007, and the Commission voted in July to grant six-year accreditation. The next scheduled site visit is in Fall 2013.

Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
The Bachelor of Social Work degree program is accredited by CSWE. Its most recent site visit took place in February 2004. The program was reaffirmed by the Committee on Accreditation with no interim report required. The next site visit is scheduled for Fall 2010.

National Association of Schools of Music (NASM)
As a fully accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music, all of Meredith’s music programs (majors, minors, certificates, licensure) are accredited by NASM. A site visit was completed in Spring 2000 and accreditation of the programs was reaffirmed. The next site visit is scheduled for Spring 2010.
The music education program is also included in the NCATE accreditation and NCDPI approval process for Meredith’s education programs. (See below.)

National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
Programs offered by Meredith that lead to teacher licensure at both the initial and advanced teacher preparation levels are accredited by NCATE. A regularly scheduled site visit took place in October 2007. The NCATE Unit Accreditation Board, at its April 2008 meeting, reaffirmed Meredith programs. Meredith College teacher education programs met all NCATE standards for high quality teacher education, with no recommendations for improvement. The next NCATE on-site visit is scheduled for Fall 2013.

Other Approvals
American Bar Association (ABA)
Meredith’s post-baccalaureate certificate program for legal assistants (the Paralegal Program) is reviewed by the ABA. The College’s program was most recently re-approved by the ABA in 2006. The next scheduled visit is expected in 2012.

North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI)
Meredith College’s teacher education programs are approved by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. The most recent self-study and site visit were completed in October 2007 and included an initial review of the undergraduate licensure program in English As a Second Language (ESL). In June 2008, the North Carolina State Board of Education granted full approval for all programs through 2014 - 2015.

North Carolina Teaching Fellows Commission
The Teaching Fellows Program at Meredith College is approved by the N.C. Teaching Fellows Commission. The most recent site visit was completed in November 2007. The next program review is scheduled for Fall 2012.

National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
The College’s athletic programs are approved by the NCAA. Meredith College is a Division III institution. The most recent self-study report was completed and filed with the NCAA in 2005-06. The next report will be submitted in Spring 2011.
