UPS

All UPS pick-ups and deliveries are through the Campus Post Office. Outgoing UPS packages must be brought to the Campus Post Office. If you have something to ship, make sure it has been taped and addressed prior to bringing it to the Post Office.  If you have ordered something such as books or supplies to be delivered by any courier, please make sure that the vendor uses your name and department on your goods, so that we can insure proper delivery to you.

Please do not have personal packages or mail sent to Meredith. We will not be responsible, and your packages could be returned.

Federal Express

Federal Express accounts are handled through each individual office but Campus Post Office is the central location for pick up. You may call Federal Express for an account number for your department use.

Intra-Campus Mail

The two intra-campus mail routes begin at Johnson Hall at 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Mail is delivered and picked up to and from all campus buildings.  Routes are completed by 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

All intra-campus mail must be correctly addressed, including name, building and room number. Incorrectly addressed mail will be returned for the correct address. Please separate your intra-campus mail by building using rubber bands (and in department order if possible). Be sure to put mail that belongs in your building into the mailboxes located in your building.  Do not send student mail in intra-campus envelopes.  If you have flyers, brochures, etc. that you would like everyone on campus to have; you may put one into each individual mail box, that are located in each building.

Politically associated mass mailings are NOT accepted.

You may not use Meredith College stationery for personal mail.  Do not mix personal mail with College mail, unless it is stamped, or it will be returned to you.

Please arrange to have large or bulky mailings picked up or brought down to the Post Office.

Off-campus Mail

mailOutgoing mail from Johnson Hall is picked up at 2:30 p.m. and taken to the Post Office to be processed.  Additional outgoing mail may be brought to the Post Office until 4:30 p.m. and will beprocessed the same day.  High volume mailings should be delivered to the Post Office early in the day to ensure same-day processing. Outgoing mail is also picked up on the intercampus mail routes during the 8:30 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. hours.

Mail to be metered 1st class or sealed must have all envelope flaps down and should be rubber banded together. Mail to be metered must be accompanied by an account number. If the department sending the mail cannot be determined from the envelope, it will be opened.

Standard Mail is mail matter not required to be mailed as First-Class Mail. Minimum Quantity: 200 pieces or 50 pounds of mail.

Mailers use Standard Mail to send:

mailboxAll Standard Mail rates are bulk rates, and each mailing must meet a minimum quantity of 200 pieces or 50 pounds of mail. There are no single-piece Standard Mail rates. In Standard Mail, there are rates for letters and flats. Unlike First-Class Mail, there is no separate Standard Mail card rate (cards are mailed as letters).

The Copy Center has an order form for bulk mail envelopes. Marketing and Communications has art work for the permit indicia when you are ready to print envelopes or brochures. When the mailing is ready, send the tri-copy bulk mail request form (which can be picked up from the campus post office when needed) and 1 sample of the piece being mailed to the postal supervisor.  The form must be completed in its entirety.  The form must be received five (5) days prior to the requested mailing date, in order for Accounting to process a check. (Mail delivered to the U.S. Post Office directly from a printer or other mail service must follow the same guidelines.  The campus post office assumes no responsibility for mail that bypasses the campus system.) The Campus Post Office will request money for the mailing and charge your account after the mail is processed through the USPS.

Arrange to have the mailing delivered to the campus post office. If special handing is required, such as having labels affixed, the mailing must be delivered at least 3 days prior to the mailing date. If bulk mailings are to be sealed, the flaps on the envelopes must be folded down. The U.S. Post Office considers standard mail to be low priority and may take up to 10 days to deliver.

If you have Business Reply Mail that you would like to include in your mailing, please indicate that on your Bulk Mailing Request Form so that money can be put into the Business Reply account to cover the postage for that mail being returned to you.
