Lamar Stringfield Music camp is a non-residential camp for boys and girls ages six through high school.
These students have had at least one year of experience playing string instruments.
Campers can sign up for one session or both sessions.
Please note that LSMC will adapt the schedule for Session 1 this year due
to the closing date of the Wake County Public School Calendar.
Session 2 will operate as usual with classes held on consecutive days.
Both basic camp sessions will meet for twenty-eight hours of instruction time.
Five or Six-day camp, Sunday–Friday:
First session: June 9, and 11-14, 2013
Second session: June 16-21, 2013
Nationally renowned conductors join forces with highly respected area professionals to work with local string students and teachers. Instruction includes classes in string orchestra training, string technique, chamber music, sectional rehearsing, theory and eurhythmics. Regular campers have formal and informal performance opportunities, which culminate in a performance on Friday. There is a supplementary Honors Chamber Music program for advanced players. Honors Chamber concerts take place on Thursday afternoon. Students are chosen to participate in the Honors Program by audition. Adult Pedagaogy college credit and Professional Development for K-12 Educators certificate of hours are also available.
New this year: Master classes by top players and teachers, including title Players from the North Carolina Symphony. Additionally, the Honors Program will be adding a

The Orchestra Level Change and Need-Based Scholarship audition date is Friday, May 3, 2013, from 2:00-5:30, Wainwright Music Building.
The Honors Chamber Music Program audition dates are March 20, 2013, from 2:00-5:30, or March 23, 2013, from 9:30-12:00, Wainwright Music Building.
