Sustainable September Events 9/12-9/18
Meredith College is putting a special focus on "thinking green" during the month of September. The following events are scheduled for September 12-18, 2011.
Film Showing: Carbon Nation. September 14, 7 p.m., 2nd Floor Cate Center Lounge, www.carbonnationmovie.com
Presentation: Using the community based social marketing model for behavior change, by Sustainability Coordinator Laura Fieselman, September 16, 1-1:50 p.m., SMB 157
Community-based social marketing draws on conventional marketing techniques to achieve socially- or environmentally-desirable behavior change in a community. This approach responds to research that demonstrates that education alone does not change behavior and is focused around identifying and addressing barriers and benefits to change.
Each week in September:
Wellness Wednesdays at Belk Dining Hall. Every Wednesday at lunch explore low-calorie foods and alternative proteins.
Wednesday Wellness Walk. Explore the greenway trail towards the art museum on Wednesday mornings in September; join Sherri Henderson, Director of the Health Center, for an early morning 3 mile walk. Meet in the parking lot behind Weatherspoon at 6:45 a.m. Rain plan: Meet at Weatherspoon Gym at 7 a.m. for cycling & elliptical workouts.
Library Foyer Display Case featuring library resources on being green, including books and films about sustainability.
