The Class of 2015 includes students from 19 states and 15 countries. Forty-three of these students will be participating in Meredith’s Honors Program.

Also among the class are Monique Kreisman, Rebecca Shafer and Alyssa Zsido, the 2011 recipients of the Alumnae Legacy Scholarship, the College’s top academic scholarship, and Mindie Stanford, recipient of the 2011 Presidential Scholarship, a full tuition scholarship.

Kreisman, of Dallas, N.C., plans to study history at Meredith, in preparation for a career in law. Shafer, of Cary, N.C., plans to major in art education and pursue a career as a teacher. Zsido, from Proctor, Vt., plans to explore her academic interests in liberal arts, mathematics, and education. Stanford, of Holly Springs, N.C., plans to enroll in Meredith’s Dual Degree Engineering program.

Current Meredith students offered some advice for the incoming class about what to expect on Move-In Day. Many said that “excitement” would be the most common feeling.

“Move-in day is full of excitement. You'll have many faces welcoming you to campus,” said Brittany Murray, ’13. “It is a long day so my best advice would be try and get some sleep the night before. It will be one of the best and most special memories you have. You feel so welcomed to campus and everyone is so excited to meet you.”

Resident advisors, student advisors and members of the junior class who participate in the Big Sis/Lil’ Sis program are among those who will greet students during move-in.

“Expect a lot of knocks on your door,” said Jade Rice, ’13. “Expect to feel overwhelmed by so many wonderful and welcoming people.”

Rodda Akelo Ouma, ’14, an international student from Kenya, said upper class students, faculty and staff are there to help new students learn about Meredith.

“You will meet your student advisor, resident assistant, faculty advisor, club officials, Big Sis and they will provide information about Meredith College. By the time orientation ends, they will have known almost everything about the school,” Ouma said.

Angel Jackson, ’13, said Move-In Day is busy, but also fun.

“Expect to be busy and to have a lot to do during orientation,” Jackson said. “There is a lot you have to learn in a short period of time, but you also have chances to bond with your advising group, roommate, and suitemates. It’s a lot of fun.”
