Meredith Gives Event February 24

Meredith Gives, an event co-sponsored by the Meredith Association of Pre-Health Profession Students (MAPPS), Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) and the School of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011. The event is open to all Meredith students, faculty and staff.

This mega-event includes three great opportunities to save a life, including donating blood and signing up to be a bone marrow donor or organ donor.

An American Red Cross bloodmobile will be parked between Ledford and the Science and Mathematics from 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Register for an appointment online at www.redcrossblood.org. Click on ‘enter sponsor code’ & enter 4272.

The Bone Marrow Donor registry (www.bethematch.org) will be in the Science and Mathematics Building (SMB) Atrium from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The last bone marrow registry drive held at Meredith was a big success, and two Meredith employees have had the opportunity to donate.

Donate Life will be at Meredith in the SMB Atrium from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. to assist people in signing up to be organ donors.

Also during the event, students will be collecting donations for Children’s Flight of Hope (www.childrensflightofhope.org).

For more information, contact Kelsey Graven (gravenke@meredith.edu), Hailee Wingfield (wingfiel@meredith.edu) or English Clemmons (clemmons@meredith.edu).
