Annual Martin Luther King Service January 19

Meredith College will hold a commemoration service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at 10 a.m. in Jones Chapel.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. chapel service is an annual event at Meredith College. It is sponsored by the Meredith College Association for Cultural Awareness, the Chaplain’s Office and the Office of Commuter Life and Diversity Programs.

The commemoration activities will include a tribute video presentation featuring Meredith students Joanna Cho, ’14, Maria Githua, ’13, Pajhuab Lee, ’13, Shellie Marshall, ’13, Niki Paganelli, ’13, and Irene Serrano, ’13. The service will also include song selections from the Shaw University Gospel Choir under the direction of Judson H. Fraley, director of worship and arts at Shaw University, and an inspirational message from Courtney Hodge, resident director at Meredith College and Shaw University Divinity School student.

The service is free and open to the public. This service qualifies as an Academic/Cultural Event in General Education.
