Students Talk about the Big Sis/Lil Sis Program

As part of our summer series, Meredith College’s Office of Admissions asked a group of rising sophomores, juniors and seniors to talk about participating in Meredith’s Big Sis/Lil Sis program, which pairs new students with current students.

Today’s Question: How has participating in Meredith’s Big Sis/Lil Sis program been for you?

•“I have really enjoyed getting to know my Lil Sis. It’s crazy how much we are alike!”—Danielle Stott, ’11

•“I have had a great Big Sis and she has been a great support for me throughout my Meredith experience.” -- Sydney Sauers, ’12

•“Having someone at Meredith whom I felt like I already knew and could go to for advice was so valuable in the transition from high school to college. It was exactly like the program suggests, like having a big sister.” –Emily Pappas, ’12

•I have really enjoyed the program. My original Big Sis was very nice to me, had a similar personality as me, and she was willing to hear my concerns … at LeaderShape, I was actually "adopted" by two rising seniors as a Lil Sis and I'm really looking forward to spending time with both of them! —Chloe Williams, ’13

•“I have loved the Big Sis/Lil Sis program. My Big Sis was such a great resource for me and was someone who I knew I could ask all the random questions like where to buy textbooks and what type of storage to bring for my room. But my Big Sis also turned into one of my really good friends, who I know I will stay in touch with since she’s graduated.” –Allison Huber, ’12

•“I think my favorite tradition is the Big Sis/Lil Sis program. I have a super awesome Big Sis who has been always there for me. Though both of us have extremely tight schedules, she always make sure we get some opportunity to hang out with each other, which makes our relationship so strong. My Big Sis called me which really made my day and made me feel so special. —Zeenat Razvi, ’13

•“I really love having a Big Sis – she is always helpful and kind; she helped me get to know Meredith and become more comfortable.” –Kristen Gallagher, ’13

Next Week: We’ll post a series of questions relating to Move-In Day – what to expect, room decorating tips, and advice to reduce stress.
