The race day schedule is as follows:

5:30 a.m. – Shuttle buses begin at the RBC Center
6 a.m. – Registration/Packet Pickup Opens
6:45 a.m. – Survivor Breakfast Begins
7 a.m. – Competitive Open 5K (co-ed)
7:15 a.m. – Survivor Photo
7:45 a.m. – Women's Only - Jeanne's Race 5K Run/Walk
8:45 a.m. – Recreational Open 5K Run/Walk (co-ed)
9:30 a.m. – One-Mile Fun Run/Walk (co-ed)
10 a.m. – Kids Dash - sponsored by Time Warner Cable (ages 3-5)
10:30 a.m. – Survivor Tribute

The event raises money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.

Komen for the Cure Founder Nancy Goodman Brinker spoke at Meredith College on April 21. Since Brinker founded the organization 1987, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure has raised nearly $1.5 billion that has been invested in breast cancer research.

“I am proud to say Susan G. Komen for the Cure is leading the fight not just in the U.S. but all over the world,” Brinker said. “The Race for the Cure is a journey for all of us from Raleigh to a village in Africa. We are all in this journey together.”

Meredith Cares Team
Meredith College is forming a team for the Race for the Cure. If you’d like to join the Meredith Cares team, indicate “Meredith Cares” on the registration form. Approximately 100 students, faculty, staff and alumnae have already joined the team.
Registration deadline is midnight on Thursday, June 10. Those who sign up now can pick up their T-shirt and race bib at the Komen tent on campus Friday, June 11 between noon and 7 p.m. or the morning of the race.
