NC Museum of Art Series Continues at Meredith Meredith College is hosting a series of events in 2009-10 through a partnership with the North Carolina Museum of Art while the museum is closed for renovation. The next event is Wednesday, Feb. 24. The lecture series began in September and runs through March. Presented by the North Carolina Museum of Art and the Center for Women in the Arts at Meredith College, this nine-part series is designed to reacquaint people with the museum’s collection and introduce new works of art that will be seen for the first time when the new building opens. The February 24 lecture, "Reinterpreting Egypt," will be presented by Caroline Rocheleau, curator of Egyptian art. Event description: Can space affect the interpretation of an art collection? Find out how divider walls and a lot of exhibition space have given a new life to ancient Egyptian artifacts. The gallery themes and the crucial role played by the False Door of Ni-ankh-Snefru, the museum’s latest and never displayed Egyptian acquisition, will be discussed and illustrated.
