Meredith Mourns Loss of First Woman Trustees Chair Meredith College mourns the loss of Trustee Emerita Margaret Weatherspoon Parker, who passed away on Monday, Feb. 8, in Winston-Salem, N.C. Margaret Weatherspoon Parker served on the Meredith College Board of Trustees from 1974-1998, and was pleased to be the College’s first female Board Chair from 1991-93. Parker was a member of Meredith’s Class of 1938. In addition to her service on Meredith’s Board of Trustees, Parker was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Winston-Salem and was president of the Bowman Gray School of Medicine Guild, as well as a Board member of the Amos Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital and Senior Services of Winston-Salem. She was honored for her community service in 1997 with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award from the Rotary International Foundation. Visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 12 from 5-7 p.m. at Salem Funerals & Cremations, 120 S. Main St., Winston-Salem, N.C. A memorial service of celebration will be held at First Baptist Church, 501 W. Fifth Street, Winston-Salem, Saturday, February 13 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside services and burial will be at Montlawn Cemetery in Raleigh on Saturday, February 13, at 3:30 p.m.
