Alumna on List of Women Who Are Changing the World
Meredith alumna Gretchen Holt Witt, '89, has been selected by Women's Day magazine for the publication's list of "Women Who Are Changing the World."
Witt, the founder of Cookies for Kids Cancer, is on the list with Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Melinda Gates and Komen for the Cure founder Nancy Brinker, among others.
Cookies for Kids Cancer is an effort that uses cookie sales to raise awareness and money to support pediatric cancer research. The organization encourages individuals to hold bake sales for Cookies for Kids Cancer, and cookies are also available for sale on their web site.

Witt and her husband started the non-profit after their son, Liam, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2007.
In addition to Women’s Day, Cookies for Kids Cancer has also been featured in Oprah Magazine, Family Circle, Parade, Ladies’ Home Journal and Redbook. Meredith College has also supported the organization. A bake sale was held during the September opening of Meredith’s new athletic complex, and proceeds from this year’s Cornhuskin’ Penny Barrel competition were donated to Cookies for Kids Cancer. Through a matching gift program, Meredith’s donation equaled $800.
Cookies for Kids Cancer will also be part of the Alumnae Market during Alumnae Reunion Weekend this May.
