Meredith Receives Race for the Cure Award Meredith College again served as the host site for the N.C. Triangle Race for the Cure, on Saturday, June 13, 2009. More than 24,000 participants were expected, including 160 Meredith College students, faculty, staff and alumnae who have formed the “Meredith Cares” team. The "Meredith Cares" team won the Race award for largest college/university team. Sponsored by Susan G. Koman for a Cure, the event has raised more this event than $10 million to support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs since it began 13 years ago.
