Meredith Holds Intramural Basketball Tournament On March 22, Meredith College had its own “March Madness” basketball competition when the College held an Intramural 3x3 tournament. This was the first intramural event of its kind in recent years. Student Anna Turner organized the tournament and dubbed it M.C. March Madness, in hopes of “jump starting intramurals at Meredith.” She was assisted by Cheryl Jenkins in Student Activities and Leadership Development and Peggy Ross in the Department of Health, Exercise and Sport Science. Approximately 35 people came to Weatherspoon Gym for the event, where seven teams of three battled it out for two hours. Finishing first were Megan Rahn, Suzanne Gasperini and Kristin Stewart, in second were Molly Parks, Lauren Connell and Frannie Wooten. “I think it is wonderful that there is strong student interest in seeing this type of event succeed,” said Jenkins. “We'd love to hear from students who are interested in these activities so we can find out where to go from here with this excitement and energy.” An intramural volleyball tournament is planned for later this semester.
