Meredith College Sponsors 2009 Cinderella Project

The Cinderella Project, Meredith College’s annual effort to provide prom dresses for local high school students, will be held this month at North Hills Mall.

A temporary “store” will be set up at North Hills Mall, and will be open Saturday, March 21 and Saturday, March 28 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The Cinderella Project shop will be located next to Charlotte’s at North Hills.

Any high school student can pick out a dress. There is no fee for the dress or for participation in the Cinderella Project.

The Cinderella Project is sponsored and coordinated by the Meredith Fashion Association. This student organization collects gently used prom dresses and provides them to high school students who cannot afford prom dresses.

2009 Drop Off Information: The Meredith Fashion Association is collecting used prom dresses through March 27 in Martin Hall, room 204 on Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The organization is requesting used prom dresses that are no more than five years old. No bridesmaid dresses, please.

For more information, contact Professor of Human Environmental Sciences Diane Ellis at ellisdi@meredith.edu. Ellis is the fashion merchandising and design program coordinator.
