Healthy Issues Week February 16-20 Health Issues Week kicks off today, February 16, at 10 a.m. with the week’s Keynote Event, featuring speaker Ashley Christensen. Learn about Christensen’s path to becoming a local restaurant owner and one of the top chefs identified by “Bon Appetite.” Her story is inspiring! This event takes place in Kresge Auditorium. Afterwards, faculty/staff and students can pick up a bingo card for the week and start earning stickers in order to be eligible to win some great prizes. The full week’s schedule is as follows: Monday, 2/16 10 – 10:50 a.m., Keynote: Ashley Christensen, in Kresge Auditorium Listen to Ashley Christensen’s story on how she became a featured chef in “Bon Appetite”. Christensen is owner and chef at Poole’s Diner and is committed to using local and organic produce. 11:00 a.m.—1:30 p.m., Eating Healthy on Campus -Meatless Monday , Belk (please enter from the West side) Try something different at lunch today and experience the expanded selection of meatless entrees. Learn more about the benefits of ‘meatless’ living on your health, the environment and the economy! 1—4 p.m., Open House—Human Performance Lab, WSP Annex BMI? Body Composition? Resting Heart Rate and fitness? Blood pressure?? What does all of this really mean? Stop by and let us tell you more about these health measures and their significance to your personal health. 7—9 p.m., Film: THIN” by Lauren Greenfield, Kresge Auditorium “THIN” is an experiential and emotional journey through the world of eating disorders. Tuesday, 2/17 11 a.m.—2 p.m., Health Center & American Heart Association, Cate Center Lobby Learn the risks and benefits of heart disease. Spin the prize wheel and answer a question about women’s heart health! 11 a.m.—1:30 p.m., Eating Healthy on Campus—Healthy Choices, Belk (please enter from the West side) Come and see what healthy options exist in the dining hall and ways to make all offerings healthier! 5:15—6 p.m., Aquatic Fitness, WSP Pool Jump in! The water is fine and so is this workout for all levels! 7—9 p.m., Lauren Greenfield—”Kids+ Money,” Jones Auditorium (Convocation credit) Come hear Lauren Greenfield discuss her latest film. “Provocative and influential” are just a few words to describe Greenfield’s photography and film “Kids + Money.” She has collections in major museums, including the International Center of Photography and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Wednesday, 2/18 10—10:50 a.m., Chapel—Sustaining Your Spirit, Chapel Come hear Sam Carothers as he inspires us to sustain our spirits! 11 a.m.—1 p.m., Beausol Farms, Cate Center Lobby Have you ever wanted your own vegetable garden? Or at least the “fruits” of natural garden?
