Exhibit Chronicling Darwin's Journey Opens Feb. 12 "Through Darwin's Eyes" opened in Meredith’s Science and Mathematics Building on February 12, 2009, the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birthday. The exhibit chronicles the travels of retired Professor of Biology Janice Swab, and her husband, Ed Swab, as they traveled the path of Darwin's voyage on H.M.S. Beagle. A reception featuring refreshments appropriate to Darwin's era was held in the SMB atrium on February 12. “I have tried valiantly to see most of the places that Darwin visited,” Janice Swab said. “The exhibition will give a sense of what he might have seen and the changes that have occurred in those places since his voyage.” Swab notes that the amount of change that has occurred varies by the location. “Some have changed very little, and some so greatly that you can hardly imagine that it is the same place,” Swab said. “Through Darwin’s Eyes” will be open through the Spring semester and Summer 2009.
