Meredith Dance Theatre in Concert

Meredith Dance Theatre will present their annual concert November 21-23 at 8 p.m. in Jones Auditorium. The concert will feature guest artist Shane O’Hara’s acclaimed work, “A Day in the Life of a Brain,” Artistic Director Carol Finley’s new work “Impact Dance,” and student work by Katie Brown, Aleah Ham, Jill Guyton, Naomi Mesa, Rebekah Shingleton and Ashley Spears.

Those who have been in or around Weatherspoon Gym on a Friday afternoon this semester have no doubt wondered what was going on in the dance studio. O’Hara’s “Brain” chases his thoughts through a wacky Kabuki-inspired landscape supported by a unique sound score. Who knew a saxophone could do that?

Finley’s “Impact Dance” looks at the Earth’s sustainability on a more personal level, through the fate of six coca-cola cans. Student works use bold modern dance and hip-hop inspired movement to explore a range of issues and emotions relevant to the lives of today’s students.

This concert is family friendly and is free to the Meredith community. Public tickets are $10 and $5. For reservations, call (919) 760-2840 or email boxoffice@meredith.edu.

Contact Carol Finley at (919) 760-8015 or finleyc@meredth.edu for more information.
