Meredith Dance Theatre Chosen for Dance Festival G Meredith Dance Theatre (MDT) attended the American College Dance Festival Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference, held at Goucher College in Towson, Md., March 12-16. Meredith performed two dances for adjudication, “Funny: Night After Night” by MDT Artistic Director Carol Finley, and “I've No Regrets... Just a Need for Change” by Kaitlin Briggs, ’08. Forty-eight dances were adjudicated in all. Finley’s “Funny”, performed by Jill Guyton, ’08, was one of 11 dances chosen for performance in the conference’s Gala Concert. This is only the second time that Meredith has been selected for this honor. More than 500 undergraduate and graduate dance students and approximately 60 dance faculty attended from 30 schools. The American College Dance Festival Association exists to support and affirm the role of dance in higher education primarily through the sponsorship of college/university regional conferences and national dance festivals. Central to the educational mission of the association is the fostering of creative potential and artistic excellence in choreography and/or performance. The American College Dance Festival Association serves as a reflection of college/university dance programs and gives presence and value to diversity in dance through the planning of regional conferences and through the adjudication process. The association acts as a national membership service organization to strengthen a network within the academic dance community. Click here for more information on Meredith’s dance program.
