Meredith College to Honor Women Veterans Nov. 14 Meredith College will commemorate Veterans Day with a special event, Honoring Women Veterans, on November 14, 2012, at 4 p.m. in Jones Chapel. Honoring Women Veterans will feature Meredith College President Jo Allen, and Brigadier General Norman C. Gaddis and Air Force veteran Ann Conde-Williams. Music will be provided by Professor Emeritus of Music David Lynch and the Meredith Chorale, under the direction of Professor of Music Fran Page. The NC State ROTC Color Guard will also participate. The community is welcome to join Meredith College students, faculty and staff for this event, which qualifies as an academic/cultural event in General Education for Meredith College students. A reception will follow in Johnson Hall Rotunda. Ways to Support the Honoring Women Veterans Event:
The College community is invited to help provide holiday cards for troops serving overseas. Supplies can be donated now. Drop off cards, stationery, envelopes, stickers, etc., or money for postage to the Office of Student Leadership and Service in 202 Cate Center or to the Office of Commuter Life and Diversity Programs in 1st Park. For supplies, please make sure the items are in good condition. No glitter please. Additional Opportunities to Honor Veterans
• Starting Monday, Nov. 5 through Friday, Nov. 16, Meredith faculty, staff and students are invited to stop by the first floor of Cate Center anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to create cards using the supplies available. All cards will be mailed before Thanksgiving Break. • View the archival displays in the lobby of Carlyle Campbell Library through November. • Watch the film “Lioness” on MCTV Channel 11 from November 12-16 at 7 p.m. The Honoring Women Veterans committee members are Patty Blackwell, Ann Gleason, Tamar Harris, Cheryl Jenkins, Gerry Sargent, Tomecca Sloane, Harold West and Jean Jackson, chair.
