Hello, my name is Cynthia Abell; however, my friends call me "C". I am from a very small town in North Carolina called Yadkinville. I am a senior honors student at Meredith College, a fabulous environment in which women have no boundaries on learning.

I am striving toward earning two degrees: a BS in Biology and a BA in Chemistry. After Meredith, I hope to be accepted into a graduate school program dealing with forensic science. I hope to work either someday as a Crime Scene Investigator or as an autopsy assistant at a morgue. I am fascinated with the complexity of the human body and what happens to the body throughout everyday life.

In my spare time, I am very involved on campus. I participate in all the major college events and traditions, Cornhuskin' is my favorite! I am also heavily involved in athletics, from keeping the stats for soccer (football) and basketball to playing fastpitch softball. I am also an outdoor enthusiast; and I absolutely love shooting sports (archery, rifle, shotgun, etc.). I shoot on a very competitive level and I have several awards for my accomplishments. With me extensive knowledge of firearms and bows/arrows, I landed a job at a local sporting goods store called Dick's. I absolutely love my job!

As for my foreign travel experiences, I have been to Costa Rica on a study abroad trip in the summer of 2006. Visiting Costa Rica was an unforgettable experience, like nothing I had ever done before. As for Africa, I have never been there, but I do have two cousins on my dad's side of the family from Zimbabwe. My father's aunt adopted the two girls in 1995 at which time the oldest entered college at a local school. Therefore, I don't have first hand experiences with Africa, but my family does. I do long to travel to all seven continents before I die and Africa is very high on that list.
