Hello, my name is Tartisha Bridges.
I am originally from Durham, North Carolina but now I live in Creedmoor, North Carolina. I have one younger brother, who is handicapped. He had spinal meningitis, which is the inflammation of the coverings around the spinal cord, when he was very young and my parents were told that he would never walk. This disease is sometimes fatal. He is now 26 and has been walking for about ten years. I am extremely proud of him and his accomplishments.
When I was in middle school, I worked with his summer school and after school programs and after seeing other children with disabilities, it made me appreciate the things that most people take for granted.
While doing this type of volunteering, I was determined to work in a field that allows me to help others. I am currently working on completing my Bachelors Degree in Biology with a concentration in Health Sciences at Meredith College.
Along with school, I have been working as a supervisor at United Parcel Service (UPS). In my spare time, I like to watch television, go to the movies, and talk on the telephone. I am a huge Carolina fan and love college basketball. I also love to travel and would love to travel out of the United States.
