Meredith College--CORE-947-A Sub-Saharan Africa--Fall 2006

Hi! My name is Meredith Secosky.

I am a 20 year old junior at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.

I love biology. I do not know yet what I want to do with biology. I either want to go to medical school or dental school.

My parents are both involved in the dental field, so I have been encouraged to go to dental school. My mom is a dentist and my dad is an oral surgeon.

I just got back in August from studying abroad this summer. I went to Italy, Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany, England, and Scotland. It was amazing! I would love to go again.

Before this summer I have done other trips out of the country to Mexico, Bermuda, Haiti, and Australia. I love to travel, whether it is out of the country or just in North Carolina.

It is really interesting to see how other people live. I am really excited to be taking this course on sub-Saharan Africa.

I have never been to Africa, but I would love to go someday.

Also, I am really interested in learning more about the HIV/AIDS virus and the other topics we will be covering in this course.

I love going to the movies, eating ice cream, hanging out with my family and friends, laughing, dancing, and singing (in private because I cannot sing that well).

I hope that by taking this class I will be better educated in important world issues, like HIV/AIDS.
