The hospitality and tourism management major is a collaboration between Meredith’s School of Business and the Food and Nutrition program. All students take business, nutrition, and hospitality & tourism courses, as well as complete a required internship. As a hospitality and tourism management major, you will gain the skills, knowledge, and experience that employers are seeking in this exciting, rapidly growing field.

The IDEAL program offers paid internships in arts administration to undergraduate students from demographic backgrounds underrepresented in arts leadership. Each summer, 5 interns are placed in a paid eight-week internship at an arts organization in Wake County, North Carolina, and paired with a mentor from the community. During that time, interns will gain experience working on real-world projects, participate in professional development, attend cultural activities, as well as build a cohort that will serve as a strong foundation for their growing careers. About Our Hospitality and Tourism Management Degree
The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Hospitality and Tourism Management is an interdisciplinary major that prepares students for management positions within the hospitality and tourism industries. Students complete a core curriculum of specialized hospitality and tourism management and business courses along with principles of food management.
Upon graduation, you’ll have the necessary skills to pursue a career in fields such as hotel management, travel and tourism management, event planning, and more.
Hospitality and Tourism Management Programs
Students can choose to major or minor in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Upon completion of the degree, students will possess critical thinking skills to solve hospitality and tourism management issues, analyze trends, and evaluate organizational data to develop effective and sustainable strategies.
The Bachelor of Science degree requires students to complete 53-56 credit hours, including 38-41 credit hours of core courses and 6-15 credit hours of elective courses. To fulfill all the major’s requirements, students must complete an internship, student portfolio, and exit interview.
