Interior Design Faculty

 

Martha BurpittMartha Burpitt, professor of human environmental sciences and the Interior Design program coordinator, joined the Meredith faculty in 1991. Her teaching experience includes Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga., University of Georgia in Athens, and Salem College in Winston-Salem, N.C. In addition to teaching, Dr. Burpitt continues to do freelance interior design work.  She has received awards for Excellence in Teaching from the University of Georgia and Meredith College.

Degrees Held: BFA and MFA in interior design, Ph.D. in art, University of Georgia. Burpitt is also National Council for Interior Design Qualification certified.

Jane Crowley, an associate professor of human environmental sciences in the interior design program, has been at Meredith since 2000. She has more than 20 years of professional experience in contract design. Ms. Crowley is a LEED-AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional).

Degrees Held: B.A. in studio art, Hollins College, MFA in interior design the Maryland Institute, College of Art.

Courses Taught: Interior Design I, Technology for Interior Design, Construction Technology, Interior Design IV, Contract Interior Design

Research Interests: Commercial Design, Green Design and Historic Preservation

Ellen GoodeEllen Goode is a professor of human environmental sciences in the interior design program. She has taught at Meredith since 1976. She continues to work as a contract design consultant, and has worked as a design manager for an office furniture dealership and a staff interior designer. Her professional work includes healthcare, church, school, and corporate office design.

Degrees Held: B.S. in interior design, Virginia Tech, M.S. in interior design, UNC-Greensboro, and Ed.D. in adult and community college education from NC State University.

Adjuncts

Richard RedfootRichard Redfoot is an adjunct faculty member in the interior design program who previously taught at Meredith from 2001-2004.  He is president of The Redfoot Studio Architecture PC in Cary.  The firm works on both residential and commercial projects including upfits, additions, renovations, and new construction throughout the Triangle and Eastern North Carolina.

Degrees Held:  Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art, Washington & Lee University, Master of Architecture, State University of New York at Buffalo.

Research Interests:  Design build and lighting

Lina SibertLina Sibert is an adjunct faculty member in the interior design program who has taught at Meredith since 1999. She is

a practicing architect and founder of 2SL Design Build in Raleigh, N.C. Her experience includes designing both residential and commercial projects in downtown Tokyo, Germany and North Carolina. She is fluent in French, Arabic and English, and has a strong knowledge of Italian.

Degrees Held: Bachelor of Environmental Design in architecture from NC State University, Master of Architecture, University of California at Berkeley.
