Child Development Program of Study
Child development students at Meredith participate in early childhood settings beginning with the first course in which they enroll. Most courses incorporate experiental and service learning opportunities. This allows students to put into practice what is discussed in class and provides them with many hands-on experiences with children.
Child Development Major
Students must take 31-40 hours of core requirements and 9 to 10 hours of electives from an approved list.
Child Development Major with B-K Licensure
Students must take courses to fulfill major and BK licensure requirements. Students should take the Praxis I the second semester of their sophomore year and must be accepted into the teacher education program by the end of the first semester of their junior year.
Child Development Major with K-6 Licensure
Students must take courses to fulfill major and K6 licensure requirements. Students should take the Praxis I the second semester of their sophomore year and must be accepted into the teacher education program by the end of the first semester of their junior year.
