Program of Study

Prerequisites

For students to be accepted to the dietetic internship program, they must have completed the DPD requirements.

Concentration

The Meredith College DIP has chosen a concentration in Leadership in the field of nutrition and/or in the community. The need for leadership in healthcare has been recognized for years. Leadership behaviors and actions are important for interns to learn. The effectiveness of leadership behaviors and actions will be essential to our graduates’ career paths.

Graduate Level Elective

Dietetic Internship students will select a graduate level elective course in the fall semester. Possible three-hour credit electives include:

FN 630 Nutrition Education and Counseling
FN 635 Gastronomy
FN 636 Sustainable Food Systems
FN 650 Vitamins, Minerals, and Nutraceuticals
FN 655 Nutrition and Physical Performance
FN 656 Obesity and Weight Management
FN 660 Food, Film and Culture

Program Completion Requirements:
To successfully complete the Meredith College Dietetic Internship Program and receive a signed program completion Verification Statement, interns must meet all of the following criteria:
Interns must
a. Pass all rotations and complete all competencies/Learning Outcomes for DIPs
b. Complete all assignments
c. Work all assigned hours
d. Turn in all evaluation forms
e. Turn in all End of Rotation Notebooks
f. Attend all field trips
g. Complete a 4-week enrichment rotation
h. Have an average of a “B” in the Graduate Classes
