We go beyond expanding your capacity to analyze business problems and evaluate business opportunities.  Our program develops the leadership competencies that endure through complex, changing environments.

LeadershipLeadership and Career Seminar
In this seminar, you’ll learn the importance of self-leadership and how to synthesize leadership and career achievement to create success.  Through exercises, you will visualize your future and create a personalized leadership development process.  Facilitated by a professional leadership consultant, this session allows you to look at yourself, your MBA and your career through a new lens. 

Learning to Lead in Global Settings
In Competing in the Global Marketplace, you will research and recommend appropriate strategies for entering global markets, sourcing global suppliers or importing goods.  The Leading in Global Business Settings elective provides further opportunity to explore globally-based topics, including transferring company practices to foreign environments, implementing effective strategies for diverse workforces, and developing the leadership skills required for success in multinational contexts.  In addition, travel abroad options such as the business in China elective allow you to experience different business settings and cultures. 

Leadership Challenge Course
Through participation in a customized challenge course, you’ll build community, foster teambuilding and develop creative problem solving skills.  Explore leadership skills through a shared experience where working cooperatively overcomes barriers and achieves goals. 

Evolution of Leadership through Teamwork
Leading does not always mean running the show.  You’ll work in a variety of team settings to enhance your understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of all team members, including your own.  As you work with other students from diverse backgrounds work together toward a common goal, you’ll learn valuable lessons in group dynamics. 

Applications in the Real World
The MBA faculty are not only qualified with terminal degrees but also stay current with extensive research in their discipline.  Many have private industry experience in fields such as management, finance and banking.  This real-world perspective helps you interpret financial statements, create budgets, understand shifts in the economy, and make decisions based on data and industry analysis. 

The Big Picture Perspective
Mastering broad subject matter clarifies the interaction of functional areas in the corporate setting, and builds awareness that increases your range of ability and knowledge.  This big-picture view provides the scope and develops the vision to lead.

Electives Deliver Skills for Leaders
In Strategies for Effective Negotiation, you’ll learn the tactics of effective negotiating for business leaders through case studies and role play.  You will develop planning techniques, analytical perspectives and interpersonal skills for creating effective, ethical and advantageous agreements.  In Project Management, you will gain essential skills and knowledge to effectively manage projects. Topics include project planning, organizing, directing, budgeting and managing resources to achieve project objectives.

Leaders Stay Current with Bloomberg BusinessWeek
To keep up-to-date with critical financial and business-climate changes, the Business School Connection Program provides each student with a subscription to BusinessWeek to enhance MBA coursework with real-world news and information about global business and technology.  Access to BusinessWeek.com, including detailed information on public and private companies and full access to searchable archives, provides additional business resources for MBA students. 

MBA Speaker Series - Leaders of Distinction
The Leaders of Distinction Speaker Series gives you the opportunity to hear from local leaders who come from a variety of industries and backgrounds.  This exploration of leadership styles and accomplishments provides a firsthand perspective of the thought processes that drive the accomplishments of these leaders.  A thought-provoking Q&A session culminates each speaker event.
