“Coming from a small, poor town in Mexico and arriving in this country at the age of 13— not speaking a word of English— I never imagined that I would have the opportunity to attend one of the best women’s colleges in the nation. I am now the first member of my family to go to college… and I have been able to inspire other Latino youth to continue with their education and not give up their dreams. I knew that there was no way that my family would be able to pay for my college education, but thanks to Meredith’s generosity, I have an entire sky to fly in.

Today, I can say with great pride that despite many challenges I am a contributing member of my community. I am a proud Latina woman who knows where she came from and where she is going, and I am ready to make an impact in the most positive way on the beautiful state of North Carolina. I am well prepared because Meredith College, my family, my professors and friends have given me the tools I needed.”
