Grant Assistance

Grant assistance is administered strictly on a need basis and offered in a student's financial assistance award letter. Grants cannot be applied for separately.

Federal Pell Grants - Provide direct grant assistance to students with demonstrated financial need. Students apply directly to the Pell Grant program by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Awards currently range from $400 to $4,310 and do not have to be repaid.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) - Awards typically range from $100 to $4,000 and do not have to be repaid. Meredith College has a limited number of these grants, and awards are provided only to students with the highest demonstrated financial need.

North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grant (NCLTG) - Available to all North Carolina residents who are attending Meredith College full-time. Students do not need to apply for financial assistance in order to qualify for this $1,900 grant. Students just need to complete the 2007-2008 NCLTG form located on the Forms page.

North Carolina State Contractual Scholarship Fund (SCSF) - Awards typically range from $100 to $4,000 and do not have to be repaid. These funds are available to North Carolina residents attending Meredith College who have a demonstrated financial need according to the FAFSA.

North Carolina Educational Lottery Scholarship - The North Carolina Education Lottery Scholarship (ELS) was created by the 2005 General Assembly to provide financial assistance to needy North Carolina resident students attending eligible colleges and universities located within the state of North Carolina.  Recipients must be enrolled at least half-time, make satisfactory academic progress, and meet specified need criteria.  Scholarships generally range from $100 to $2,500 per year.

Education Access Rewards North Carolina Scholars Fund (EARN) - EARN was established by the 2007 North Carolina General Assembly to provide grants to eligible students to enable them to obtain an education beyond the high school level at community colleges and universities in North Carolina during the first two years of their postsecondary education. Eligible students must meet specified need criteria established by the State of North Carolina, be enrolled full-time, and make satisfactory academic progress. The EARN grant can provide up to $4,000 per year for the first two years an elligble student is enrolled.

Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program - Beginning July 1, 2008, the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program will provide up to $4,000 a year in grant aid to undergraduate and graduate students and students enrolled in a post-baccalaureate teacher credential program, or current or prospective teachers.   For more information about this federal program, please visit the US Department of Education website.  More details about how to receive the TEACH Grant at Meredith will be available soon.

Meredith College Grants - Annual grants provided by Meredith College for students with demonstrated need. These grants supplement federal and state aid. To be renewed, students must maintain satisfactory academic progress and continue to demonstrate need. These grants do not have to be repaid.
