Scope of Services
Service Response Center
The Service Response Center (SRC) is located in the Facilities Services building and is responsible for receiving all requests for emergency, normal, or special services. It also establishes priorities and assigns responsibility to the appropriate department and/or trade area for execution.
Service requests may be submitted by calling the Service Response Center at the number listed above or by using the Service Request Form. The online form is preferred because it documents the request and indicates the exact information needed to most effectively meet the requestor’s needs.
EMERGENCY SERVICE REQUESTS require prompt action because of the immediate or potential hazard to the safety of the campus community or property. They may also address a situation that threatens an important campus function. Examples include power outages, gas/water leaks, flooding, snow or ice removal, etc. All fire alarms are reported to Meredith Campus Police at extension 8888.
NORMAL SERVICE REQUESTS include maintenance and repair needs that commonly occur on a daily basis and can be handled during normal work hours. Examples include maintenance and/or repair of doors, locks, windows, office furniture, lighting, and most plumbing, heating or cooling problems, etc. Moves and setups are also included in normal service.
SPECIAL SERVICE REQUESTS are typically non-routine, labor-intensive, unfunded projects, or projects that require technical review and administrative approval. These will be prioritized and subject to availability of facilities or departmental funds. Examples include installation of power, painting, lock changes, new shelving, renovations, carpeting, etc. A Meredith Project Proposal and Approval Form is required for all special service requests or projects prior to facilities reviewing the projects. See forms.
How to Obtain Services
When requesting assistance from Facilities Services, please keep the following in mind:
Emergency requests should be made in person or by telephone at extension 8560 (or ext. 8888 after hours)—do not use the online form to submit an emergency request.
All non-repair student requests should be submitted through the Residence Life staff, which keeps track of all student requests and is an essential partner with the Service Response Center in prioritizing work requests.
All requests from academic departments should come through the department head’s office.
All requests that involve re-programming of academic spaces must go through the V.P. for Academic Affairs office.
Use of the service request form implies that you understand and accept these terms.
Emergency Service Requests should be called in to extension 8560 during business hours and extension 8888 after business hours.
Normal Service Requests should be submitted online. If this option is unavailable, a Services Request Form must be completed and faxed (2885), or hand carried to the SRC located at Facilities Services. You may also call the SRC at 8560 with your request, but this is the easiest way to leave out vital information and may slow down the response to your request. Upon completion of the work, the requester may a door hanger explaining the actual work done or an email noting the completion of the work.
