Abstract

This award provides funding for a three year standard award to support a Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) Site program, involving 26 teachers over three years at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) entitled, "Chicago Science Teacher Research (CSTR) Program," under the direction of Dr. Andreas A. Linninger. This program is an initiative by faculty from the Colleges of Engineering, Education and Liberal Arts and Sciences at UIC in cooperation with the Chicago Public School (CPS) authorities, Community Colleges and industrial interest groups to address the need to train and engage in-service teachers in latest scientific procedures in the area of life sciences, nanotechnology, bio- and environmental engineeing.
