If you love to read, and if you want to expand your horizons through a rich liberal arts education, an English major may be right for you. The English major at Meredith provides a solid foundation in American, British and world literatures that begins with the ancient classics and includes recent works by great writers of our time. The minor in professional writing offers practice in workplace communication and technology.
As an English major, you will develop critical thinking and writing skills that prepare you to seek teacher licensure, enter a graduate program, or work in a range of professions. Recent graduates have found excellent careers as journalists, editors, marketing/public relations professionals, attorneys and project managers.
English students regularly combine their English major with teacher licensure. Graduates often go on to excel in graduate programs and careers in a variety of fields.
